Shakespeare in the Park
ILLUSTRATION / DESIGN / ART DIRECTION
Back when I was involved in the theater, I created posters for low-budget Shakespeare plays. I was the sole designer/art director/creative director on these, from concept through execution.
A Midsummer Night's Dream
This was a whimsical, dreamy interpretation, with typography illustrating two items that are prominent in the play: A donkey's head and the magical flower Love In Idleness that makes the fairy queen fall in love with the head.

Macbeth
This darker design features the coveted crown made of blood splatters, signifying the messy, murderous cost to gain it. The crown also brings to mind a bloody claw, and the three central points additionally hint at the three witches that incite the ominous proceedings.

As You Like It
This simpler typographic treatment is colorful and organic like the woods that are the main setting of the play, and the fool's hat suggests a comedy while also alluding to the court jester who accompanies the main characters. Some famous quotes from the play form background texture while also helping to contextualize the play for the viewer.
